Powerful Protest: How does language enhance activism?
On Thursday 10th June, our Senior Research Fellow Dr Arlene Holmes-Henderson chaired a panel of experts as part of the inaugural Sussex Festival of Ideas. Prof Margaretta Jolly, Centre for Life History and Life Writing Research, Prof Stephen Coleman, University of Leeds/Speaking Citizens, Dr Christopher Warne, Centre for Resistance Studies, and Dr Sara Vestergren, University of Salford explored the interrelation of protest, language and activism. The panel brought expertise from History, Political Communication and Psychology so questions explored the impact of protest on individuals’ emotions, behaviour and life stories.
